The government on Saturday night flagged an unsavoury trend of certain star hotels offering Covid vaccinations in collaboration with some private hospitals and asked state governments to initiate leak action against these institutions.
In a letter to Principal Secretaries Health of all states, Union Additional Secretary Health Manohar Agnani said it had come to the light of the government that certain private hospitals were giving packages for Covid vaccinations in collaboration with some hotels against the national Covid vaccination guidelines.
“Vaccination being carried out in star hotels is against national guidelines. Legal and administrative action should be taken against such institutions,” Agnani wrote to states today.
There are only four vaccination avenues available under national Covid inoculation guidelines, the Centre said.
These are government vaccine centres, private vaccine centres, workplace vaccine centres and near to home vaccine centres organised for elderly and differently abled by resident welfare associations, community centres, panchayats or old age homes on a temporary basis.
