Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said in a statement on Sunday that the country recorded a total of 1 575 471 Covid-19 cases.
KwaZulu-Natal recorded the most active cases with 5 097, followed by the Northern Cape with 3 284 and Gauteng with 2 919.
The recovery rate is 95% with 1 501 185 recoveries.
To date, 10 530 979 tests have been completed.
Of the 23 deaths that were recorded, seven were in the Eastern Cape, four in the Free State, seven in Gauteng, four in KwaZulu-Natal and one in the Western Cape.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers who treated the deceased,” Mkhize said.
