PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry is currently reviewing the terms of purchase for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, says Khairy Jamaluddin.
The Science, Technology and Innovation Minister said the government is looking into procuring the vaccine, which has recently gotten approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Health Ministry is in the midst of reviewing the term sheets with Johnson & Johnson, in terms of its legal implications.
I have requested that the process be hastened for the term sheet to be signed by the Health Minister, he said during a press conference at KLIA after the CoronaVac vaccines arrived on Saturday (Feb 27).
A panel of expert advisers to the US FDA had earlier voted in favour of authorising Johnson & Johnsons vaccine for emergency use.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba has said that the vaccine is attractive to use as vaccine recipients will only require a single dose.
The Cabinet had earlier given its approval for the procurement of the vaccines, following a recommendation by the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee.
