House Deputy Speaker and Cagayan de Oro City Representative Rufus Rodriguez suggested Wednesday that the chamber should have four session days per week before the sine die adjournment to pass important measures, such as the proposed Bayanihan 3.
“I am confident that under the leadership of Speaker Velasco we are going to have this (Bayanihan 3) approved. This is a very vital measure especially to combat COVID-19 and so we will work on this,” Rodriguez said during the Ugnayan sa Batasan forum.
“I also agree with the suggestion from the Senate that we should meet also on Thursdays. Let’s meet up to Thursdays. Three days a week is quite short considering we have [other] items,” he added.
Aside from the proposed Bayanihan 3, the Resolution of Both Houses No. 2, which aims to amend the restrictive economic provisions in the 1987 Constitution, is also being pushed in the chamber.
Ako Bicol party-list Representative Alfredo Garbin has said other priority measures of the House include the concurrent resolution supporting President Rodrigo Duterte’s amnesty proclamation and the creation of the Philippine Virology Institute.
With the sine die adjournment on June 5, the Congress only has three weeks to discuss the proposed measures.
