Armed Trump supporters outside Michigan officials home
Armed supporters of Donald Trump have gathered outside the home of Michigans chief election official to demand she stop the steal, she has said.
Jocelyn Benson , the secretary of state, said the groups threatening behaviour took place while her young son tried to watch a Christmas film.
In a statement, Ms Benson said: I have always been an energetic advocate for the right and importance of peaceful protest as enshrined in the United States Constitution, however there is a line crossed when gatherings are done with the primary purpose of intimidation of public officials who are carrying out the oath of office they solemnly took as elected officials.
She also accused Mr Trump of an unprecedented, dangerous, egregious campaign to erode the publics confidence in the results of one of the most secure, accessible and transparent elections in our states history.
Video posted to Facebook by one of the protesters showed the small group chanting through loudhailers and carrying placards that promoted election conspiracy theories. The footage shows the group standing on the pavement outside the home while a few police officers look on.
The protest was condemned as “mob-like behaviour” by Dana Nessel, Michigans attorney general, and Kym Worthy, the Wayne County prosecutor, in a joint statement.
They added: “They shouted baseless conspiracy theories about the election, and in videos uploaded to social media, at least one individual could be heard shouting youre murderers within earshot of her childs bedroom.
Terrorising children and families at their own homes is not activism.
Joe Biden beat MrTrump in Michigan by more than 150,000 votes, taking 50.6 per cent of the vote compared to the incumbents 47.8 per cent.
